The Gaian Project celebrates nature. With its yearly digital album release inlcuding designs, 
music and articles it inspires to preserve our planet.

In 2010, Steffen Knoesgaard, Fredrik Ekholm and Simon Holmedal, created the first ever moving imagery for the community art project Gaia: The Gaia10 official trailer. Two years later the project has changed from coordinated yearly releases, into an ongoing collaboration as the community run website gaian.me

To mark the new direction of the community, curator Marius Bauer returned to Steffen and Fredrik and commissioned an updated trailer. Seeing this as an excellent opportunity to blow off some creative steam, they conceptualized an idea to recreate the trailer based on the original thoughts, but updated for 2012. During the process designer/animator Linus Lundin - a long time collaborator, joined the project as well as musician 
and sound designer Jochen Mader.

This is my personal  contribution to the Animation Sequence Project.
I wanted to play with some techniques used in an earlier personal project, but keep a 2D feel using mostly shapes and lines - and a limited faded color palette.

About the project

The Animation Sequence Project is an unique co-creation project featuring the world’s greatest animation artists. Creative minds from all over the world are invited to create a short piece of animation. The only requirement for the content of the animation is that it starts and ends with a 250 pixel square in the exact middle of the screen.

During fall of 2011 I helped TV 2 Design update their on-air look, OSP and branding for their main channel. January 1st 2012 marked the date the station would switch from being public service to a payed channel, and at the same time it would switch to broadcasting in HD.

The ALT AV Project is an ongoing open call for creative interpretations of Anomalous Visuals' logo. AV asked me to do a version and this is my contribution to the project.

Over a period of 30 days I challenged myself to created 1 second of animation every day. The idea was to experiment and explore workflow in the software package Cinema 4D and publish one frame from my experiments daily..

Rules
-Animate 1 second everyday
-Publish one frame daily at blog.steffenk.net
-Put it all together to approx. 30 seconds of animation
In the end I didnt quite manage to complete this challenge on a daily basis, but I ended up with 30 motion tests and this is the result..

		<description>Style frames / pitch for an updated version of the titles for House M.D.. 

After changes were made to the cast of House M.D. in the show’s seventh season, the main titles needed an update. During my stay at Digital Kitchen, we were tasked with revising the intro to reflect these new cast members, as well as updating selected scenes. 

My role was to investigate styles that could give an updated feel to the titles, but preserve a strong connection to the original material.  Based on input from one of dK's Creative Directors, I explored a microscopic aesthetic for the new frames, connecting the original work via an “inside the body” feel by using elements of cells and microorganisms. 

Please note that this work is based on the original assets and artwork by the dK team; this was my reimagining of their efforts along with my original additions.

About Gaia
The Gaia Project to raise awareness for climate change, started in 2007 as an open source community project to create digital art for this cause. In the last four years a group of 5.000 designers - members from laFraise, Behance, deviantArt and other big design websites - joined them to create designs, music and articles around this major theme. 

4 Designers. 4 Cities
Gaia curator Marius Bauer approached Steffen Knoesgaard with a suggestion to collaborate on making the first official trailer for the Gaia project and thus adding moving images to the Gaia project for the first time. 

Teaming up with fellow motion designers Fredrik Ekholm and Simon Holmedal, the team created the trailer working in an online collaboration from 4 different countries based out of New York, Amsterdam, London and Munich. Musician Kevin Durante, an contributor to earlier Gaia releases, joined in to make a custom sound track - that will be released later as a full length track on the forthcoming Gaia album.
